Nichols heads to the OJHL's newest team as Trenton continues to reshape its roster
The Trenton Golden Hawks have traded forward Ryan Nichols to the King Rebellion in exchange for a player development fee.
After joining the Golden Hawks last summer from the Toronto Patriots, the versatile Nichols quickly contributed to their success, tallying 11 goals and 32 points in 40 games and helping the team reach the Buckland Cup Finals.
The deal sends Nichols to the newest team in the OJHL, the King Rebellion, which will begin play in King Township for the 2024-25 season.
The franchise will call the new Zancor Centre home. The facility, which will open this fall, will include two NHL-sized ice rinks, an aquatics centre, an athletic fieldhouse, and multi-use community spaces.
The Golden Hawks have been active in reshaping their roster this offseason. In addition to the Nichols trade, Trenton recently acquired over-age forward Devin Mauro and sent veteran defenceman Luke Hampel to the Milton Menace.
The Golden Hawks will open their exhibition schedule this Thursday with an away game against the Lindsay Muskies, followed by a home game against the Nepean Raiders at Duncan McDonald Memorial Gardens the next night. Fans will get their first look at the roster as the team continues to prepare for another strong season.
